Rated 5 out of 5 by Ragnarr1313 from A great first baitcaster for anyone! These are really well made baitcasting reels that will work rather well to teach anyone how to use a bait caster. I bought one for my son and my nephew when they were younger and those reels helped them out a lot. They work pretty well on a MedHvy rod with 50lb test braid on them. I took my son and my nephew out pike and bass fishing and by the end of the day they were using the reels with the anti-backlash feature off and were casting like they had been doing it for years. I would highly recommend these reels for someone who is a beginner and wants to learn how to use a baitcasting reel. .

Rated 1 out of 5 by Turbo906 from Good concept....BUT For the price I figured you cant go wrong, that didn't prove to be the case. This real shouldn't even be classified as a "baitcast" real! I've used some really poor quality baitcast reels that perform 10x better than this. The E-Z Cast isn't "E-Z" unless you have a TON of weight! Don't expect to make long casts... If your looking for a budget/simple reel for the kids/beginners stick to a good ole closed spincast. The kids will enjoy more time making long casts and fishing, rather than FAILING with this product. As they become more confident you can move onto a REAL baitcaster and set the spool-tension a bit tighter to avoid backlash. Most products available today use advanced technology, such as variable electromagnet brakes etc.. that make the reel easier/more user friendly!!! You get what you pay for folks..

Rated 2 out of 5 by Red 42 from For a 40 dollar reel that is what it is . But I didn't expect much else . I got this reel for my 5 0ld son to use . The concept is great but it is really hard for him to cast any distance with it . Which leads to him not wanting to use it .

Rated 1 out of 5 by teebogg from casting got mine in today tried it out it wont cast out no farther than 5ft unless you put a heavey weight on it. not worth the money. even tried to use it as a fliping pole line would not even come out with a 1/8 weight and a plastic worm on it.
