Rated 5 out of 5 by JavaFueled from My Kids First RIG I bought this rig for my kids fist pole @ ages of 8 and 10... I mated the Synergy TI 20 with this 2 piece CAL 1102 Ugly Sticks... Great Balance and Comfort in the hands ... This is so nice that my wife wants one because its so easy and fun to use. She is willing to give up her $160 Penn Spinning reel for it... Anyway , it casts @ 20 to 35 yards out easy. Not bad for freshwater but better for the Salts... Thanks Shakespeare for PRICE / QUALITY to match ...

Rated 4 out of 5 by Rxfire from Decent reel-heavy duty spincast I bought the top unit with 20 lb test line. It has done well so far. When you pick it up, it is HEAVY for a spincast. I do not mind the weight, durability is what I am after. It has handled 4 pound striped bass without any issue, the drag works great, too. After a few trips, the level-wind spooling seemed to pile the line unevenly, eventually binding up against the reel cover housing. So I decided to spool out the line behind my moving boat, with just a swivel on the line, de-kink the line and reel it up and see if that helped. After letting all the line out, it turned out that the line was not even tied to the reel. Yep, lost all the line. I think that the reel may have come with too much line on it, which caused the binding problem. I still think it is a good reel, just pointing out the issue that I had with it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by JohnKayaker from Handles fall off I have now purchased two Shakespeare Titanium Synergy reels. The handle fell off of the first one within a month of purchase and was lost overboard. I liked the way the reel handled otherwise, and considered this a fluke, so I went out and (foolishly) purchased a replacement. The handle has fallen off of this one within two weeks. I highly recommend not buying this poorly made product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by JohnKayaker from Shakespeare Customer Service I had written an earlier negative review of the Shakespeare Titanium Synergy TI10 reel because I had purchased two of them, only to have the handles fall off within a month of purchase. When I returned them to Shakespeare, however, they immediately replaced them with new reels. Excellent customer service! You can rely on this company's to stand by its products.

Rated 2 out of 5 by John53 from Broke after first use I have used the TI-20 reel now for several years and have had several of them. They generally work well except that the screw that holds the handle on breaks. I have had this happen to 3 reels. I was unable to buy a replacement handle so I bought a whole new reel - actually took advantage of end of year clearance and bought 4. One of the reels fell apart inside after the first day of fishing. I wasn't able to figure out how to fix it. I bought it online so I didn't return it. Instead I took the handle off the broken reel and repaired my old reel with it.
