Rated 4 out of 5 by Perm11 from Great Rod I had received this rod for my birthday and I when fishing with it the next day. It handled a few good bass before the tip of the rod broke. I continued to use the rod regardless and I ended up landing my personal record bass on it. Great Job!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Rdnc from Awesome reel. But just like other reviews the rod broke the first time I got to use it. I usually use ultra light gear so I'm use to the lighter action rods. This one just wasn't made well at all.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Pcgirl11 from Broke Bought 1, it broke before I got to use it; got a replacement; it broke the 2nd time I used it. Both times it broke near the tip. I would not recommend this. Tried to add photo. Wouldn't load

Rated 5 out of 5 by rtfish from Great combo! The rod is well constructed and looks great. The reel is above average for a lower priced item. It is smooth and works fine. Let's be reasonable. this is an inexpensive combo that does lack the style and sturdiness of higher priced combos. With and experienced fisherman who treats their equipment well, it will catch as many fish as any other.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Bb60 from Drag system didnt work I bought this reel back the end January and get to use it right away, it sat in my rod case for a couple weeks till I was able to get out fishing. Got the reel out put it on a ice fishing rod and straight out of the package the drag didn't work. It was like the drag system was backwards. It "clicked" when line was being brought in under pressure but not when being pulled off the reel the way a drag should work. So i tried to contact Shakespeare by thier customer service email and see what their thoughts are on the whole situation and, well I haven't heard anything back for about 2 months. WILL NOT EVER BUY ANOTHER SHAKESPEARE BRAND ITEM AGAIN. Poor customer service. I know it's just a 20 dollar reel but come on, if customer service can't get back to you what happens when you have a 100 dollar rod snap or a much higher priced item break. Not worth my time I'll go else where with my money. Part of reason for low rating on this product is because of customer service being so poor.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Driftwood70 from pre- bigbig fish I'll have to wait for the big one but, I like the feel and the reel is smooth. I must say that I am more rating Shakespeare on this one. When my order first arrived, the box was crushed and the pole was broken. I contacted, sent a few pictures and Boom, new poke arrived a week later. Awesome PR!!!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by ZachM from Broke I was excited to purchase this pole because I thought with a name like Shakespeare I would be buying a high quality product... I was wrong. My first time using this I had the first fish of the day take my bait and when I went to set the hook, the rod snapped in half. Junk.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Bgng32 from Beautiful The rod came well packaged and from looking at it its seems to be very strong. I would write another review on the use once I've had a chance to take it out...looks beautiful as does all Shakespeare's rods.
