Changing the handle from left to right retrieve Many of our spincast reels are able to convert from left to right hand retrieve. These include all the Synergy®, Synergy® Alloy, and most of the STEEL series. If you want to buy a reel with a convertible handle read the packaging and/or look for a small screw-on dust cap on the opposite side of the reel handle. To change the handle from left to right or vice versa follow these Instructions for Synergy SC reels: Loosen the screw on the side opposite the handle. It is attached to the handle shaft. Removing the screw will also loosen the handle. Pull the screw and the shaft from the reel and insert it in the opposite side. Put the handle in place and hold it while you tighten the screw. This will re-attach the handle. Tighten the screw firmly in place but do not over tighten. Mission complete.
