Product Reviews

Shakespeare® Iron Man® Kit is rated 1.3 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst design I have ever seen, 2nd one There is no way to remove the reel top to pull string out. The plastic screw turns but won't come out. This is the second one - Shakespeare used to be a solid company. This is the worst design flaw I have ever seen. Will be taking both poles back to Walmart for refund.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Couldn't remove the reel top. I don't understand how this made it past testing. Other reviewers have experienced the same problem where the plastic screw turns but won't come out. I now have to break the reel cover just so I can extract some line.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Big problem! Good day, I purchased one of your Shakespeare kids rods from a store in town here. The Iron man model to be exact. It was for my three year old son. When we opened the product everything was perfect, the rod was good quality and worked perfectly. I started to teach him how to cast and attached the small yellow casting fish and we were having a blast. Then we got snagged on something and the line broke off and then he reeled in his line. No big deal I thought, I'll just detach the housing and grab more line and be one our way. So I grabbed the screw driver and attempted to remove the plastic screw. When it wasn't working I went online to see what I was doing wrong. I found multiple complaints from other people on the same problem. I won't lie, I was quite mad and disappointed because it seemed like you must have known about this issue by now and the product was still being sold. The reason I bought the Shakespeare rod in the first place was because I knew your brand and had total confidence in it. But now I feel quite differently and will not be able to recommend your products to family and friends and in fact I'll have to warn them and tell them my bad experience. I really hope you can do the right thing and take the defective product off the market until it works the way it should so you don't loose anymore customers.
