Rated 5 out of 5 by Thomas R Cook from It was 80 lb tested by me I caught a 80 lb, 75 lb and a 65 lb spoonbill on it. I know it is good to 80 lb plus when the spoonbill get sideways in the current it almost pulled me in and I weigh 174 lb this and my alpha big water reel took a lot of abuse this last month.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Russellk from Great casting rod I bought two 12 foot rods to be delivered where we were staying at a beach rental in California. They were inexpensive and with free shipping I figured I would just leave them for the next renters, But these rods are really nice. I threw 5 oz rigs farther than my more expensive rods at home. Nice feel and they showed little signs of use after several days of straight use. Nothing fancy in the way of guide mounts or the guides but who needs fancy for surf fishing. I ended up paying $50 to ship these home as they were well worth keeping.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Whigmaleeries from Best rod for the money out there I have owned 3, 9 foot MH rods over the last 5 years. One rod had the bottom eye die out on me after 3 years of service and punishment. These rods are my planer rods for kingfish trolling coupled with large spinning reels. I've caught lots of 20lb + red snapper in 200 feet of water, even caught a 120 lb nurse shark (had to reverse the boat on that one and it took 45 minutes to land). These poles are my workhorse poles, and they are worth every penny. Only critique is the eyes could be better, but as long as you protect them in transit they will serve you well for many years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Air Eagle from Extremely well built I bought this rod to pair up with a Shakespeare salt water reel I previously purchased. I was pleasantly surprised by the sturdy construction of the rod. The guides have multiple legs which add strength. It is my go to jetty rod for Galveston Bay. I wish I could say I caught a fish to test the rod but I haven't had that pleasure yet. The deer season has kept me from the water but I plan on going back asap.
